The Dalles Photographer & Videographer

Portrait, event, real estate & Gorge lifestyle photography — shot by a Columbia River Gorge local, about 30 minutes from downtown The Dalles.

The Dalles has some of the most photogenic corners of the Columbia River Gorge: the rose garden and river views at Sorosis Park, the historic Sunshine Mill (home to Quenett and Copa Di Vino wineries), the Columbia Gorge Discovery Center, the Original Wasco County Courthouse, and orchard country stretching out toward Dufur and Mosier.

I'm Eric Palmer, a White Salmon, WA-based photographer and videographer with a BFA in Photography and years of experience shooting across the Gorge from Hood River to The Dalles. I'm about 25 miles — roughly 30 minutes — away, so I know the seasonal light, the harvest calendar, and the local backdrops that actually make The Dalles look like The Dalles, not a generic stock photo.

I also work as a flight attendant for Horizon Air, which keeps me traveling the West Coast regularly. If a project ever needs coverage beyond the Gorge, I can get there without the day-rate travel costs most photographers charge.

What I Shoot in The Dalles

Portrait & Family Photography: Sessions at Sorosis Park's rose garden and river overlooks, the Riverfront Trail, and historic downtown — golden hour, senior portraits, and family sessions with a real sense of place.

Real Estate & Commercial Photography: Interior and exterior photos for listings, orchard and vineyard properties, and downtown businesses that need images built for their website and Google Business Profile.

Event Photography: Weddings, festivals, and tasting room events at venues like Sunshine Mill, plus corporate and tourism-business events that need same-day-usable images.

Wine, Cider & Orchard Content: Tasting room, product, and harvest photography for The Dalles' wineries and orchard businesses — see also my dedicated

Drone & Aerial Photography: The Dalles Dam, the Columbia River, orchard rows, and Gorge overlooks from above.

Why Work With a Local Gorge Photographer

  • Close by, not from Portland: about 25 miles from White Salmon — no Portland travel fees, no scheduling around a three-hour drive.

  • I know the light and the landmarks: cherry blossom season, harvest, and golden hour at Sorosis Park — I know the calendar because I live in it.

  • Photo + video, one shoot: photo and video from one person on one invoice, shot in the same visit.

  • Horizon Air flexibility: regular travel across the West Coast for Horizon Air means I can extend a Dalles project further out at little added cost.

  • A trained eye: BFA in Photography from the Savannah College of Art and Design, with paid work across portrait, product, and editorial-style assignments.
